Ernestine M. Raclin House

The centerpiece of Center for Hospice Care’s Mishawaka Campus is our 12-bed inpatient care facility. Named the “Ernestine M. Raclin House,” this facility focuses on providing an additional layer of compassionate, specialized care to those who need supervised, around-the-clock care in a medical setting. It is also available for those whose caregiver needs a brief respite.

The inpatient unit is a testament to Ernestine “Ernie” Raclin’s dedication to improving the quality of living for those around her. Center for Hospice Care is grateful for her lead gift which allowed us to create a home-like setting for our patients and their loved ones.

Visiting Raclin House

Raclin House is located at the southeast corner of our Mishawaka Campus, between the Administration/Clinical Staff Building and the Center for Palliative Care. Families and friends visiting Raclin House can enter the parking lot dedicated for Raclin House visitors by turning south on Pine St. from Comfort Place (see map below). If you would like to see a walkthrough video of Raclin House, click here.

Unlike most other care settings, visitors are welcome at Raclin House 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We ask that visitors comply with posted instructions for entering the building and using any of the amenities offered.

Each of the 12 patient rooms face the St. Joseph River and the doors to each private patio area accommodates the patient bed, which can be rolled outside so patients and their loved ones can enjoy the serene sounds of the river. In addition to its spacious, comfortable patient rooms, Raclin House has gathering areas for families. These include a sunroom and family room with comfortable seating, a large screen television and a fireplace. The facility also has rooms designed for teenage and younger visitors as well as a dedicated spiritual reflection room.

Raclin House is also home to “Teddy” our trained therapy dog. While his busy schedule does have him visiting our other locations and making community appearances, Teddy loves to visit patients and their loved ones at Raclin House.

The Ernestine M. Raclin House is conveniently located adjacent to downtown Mishawaka, a few minutes from the US 20 bypass.
