Esther’s House

Esther’s House was named by Dick and Rita Strefling in honor of Dick’s mother, Esther. Their transformational gift and desire for Elkhart County to have an inpatient unit available to those in need, allowed Center for Hospice Care to open a seven-bed unit in 2008. Every detail about the house and surrounding tranquil 11 acres was chosen to provide a warm, homelike setting for patients and families.

The inpatient unit offers gathering areas for families, including a four-season room and family room with comfortable seating, books and a fireplace. There are also outdoor garden and woodland spaces that provide quiet settings for reflection; the patient rooms overlook one of the campus’ serene, wooded areas.

Esther’s House is conveniently located on Old US 20, off County Road 17 and the US 20 bypass.
